On September 2nd 1965, Chicago Cubs legend Ernie Banks hit his 400th home run, a third-inning blast off St. Louis Cardinals lefty Curt Simmons (who would become Banks’ teammate in Chicago two years later). Banks would finish his 19-year Major League career with 512 homers, which ties him for 21st all time.
